Firstly, hi.
It’s been a while since I have sat down to write a blog post.
Today I want to talk about NaNoWriMo or National Novel Writing Month. I have attempted NaNoWriMo a few times and used the software to help keep me motivated to write daily and I feel that it’s helped me so far. Anyway, this year my plan was to start the first draft of book 3 in my BrightStone Saga after finishing book 2, but that didn’t go to plan for other reasons I won’t bore you with. So this year, I will be focusing on finishing book 2 in November and getting the story down finally.
As I’ve said before, I am a slow writer and do need that push sometimes so NaNoWriMo is the perfect opportunity for me to get book 2 finished. I am aiming for the 50k words but I’ve never done it on the previous tries, so I’m not going to torture myself if I don’t make it. Day 1 went okay and I did a little over 500 words which lately is great for me. I’ve been averaging a few hundred words per week and that’s on a good one. Day 2 I did just shy of 600 words so from day 3 onwards my play is to aim for a thousand words a day and see where I am at the end.
To finish book 2 I think I’m going to need around about 40-45k words so this is the perfect time to try and get it done.
I would love to hear what people are doing this month, if it’s NaNoWriMo or some other challenge.
