January Writing Update

Writer: Lee DawsonLee Dawson

Hello,

I know it's been a while since I wrote my last post (almost a year ago!)

Anyway, I just wanted to write this post as an update to how I’m doing with my writing.

In my last post I was really excited to show off my new map showing the whole of Antar where my BrightStone Saga takes place. I managed to add that map to the prequel novella ‘Betrayal’ and it came out great!

Now, what have I been up to you ask?

Well, I have been busy writing book two in the series and it’s coming along nicely. As of writing this, I only have two chapters to go and they are both from the same POV so should be fairly easy to get down. With two chapters to go the word count is sitting around the 120k mark, so I’ll probably have an un-edited first draft of around 130k. With how I edit I normally end up adding more words overall so I’m sure it will end up bigger. Not quite like book one that sits around 160k, but you never know after the editing phase.

Anyway, book two is nearly finished and my plan is to get it edited and release it this year before diving straight into book three.

So, what else have I been up to?

I was part of my first writing podcast. Shout out to Dale Hurst for having my on. We spoke about the fantasy genre and world building using the creation of an in-world map. I thoroughly enjoyed that, although I was a bit nervous when I had to speak about my out book. Funny how that happens to us. He covers all sorts of writing related content so go and check his podcast out here: https://open.spotify.com/show/0wjM7u0BtlGdlXjYkGoA7V?si=a7f8fe96a9664dcf

My episode is no. 40. Mapping your fantasy realms.

Nothing much more from me. I hope everyone had a good christmas and a happy new year and you are all getting some good writing done.

If you fancy reading an epic fantasy story with multiple POV’s, realistic battles and of course, magic! Check out Book One in the series https://amzn.to/43CRevH

Read it, and please, if you do, could you review it, as it helps me and every other author.

Happy reading and thanks,

Lee
